According to latest figures from the Government, the Help to Buy scheme has helped over 150,000 homebuyers since its launch in April 2013[1]. Set up to support those who could afford mortgage repayments but had difficulty saving for a large enough deposit, 80 per cent of the households who have benefited from the scheme were first time buyers[2].
